New York Part 2

Ok, it's time for our second post of photos from the New York trip we took back in May. If you remember, our last New York post consisted of some of our best touristy shots. With this post we wanted to show off some of our more aesthetic photos. As a side note, Lora is hoping to decorate our kitchen with black and white photos of New York. Can anyone guess which two she had printed to hang in her office? Post your guesses in the comments section (if you already know the answers, don't spoil it!).

Isaiah & Sofia

You may remember our friends Deana & Joey from their impromptu wedding at Lake Eola last year. This year, Deana wanted to surprise Joey with an album of the kids for Father's Day so we met up with them at a local playground. Sofia is super camera shy so it took us a while to get her to warm up to us, but after much patience we finally got some good shots. Isaiah is a ball of energy and just one big ham so he was a lot of fun.


I always love to do a children's portrait session at a park or playground. We end up getting really fun, colorful, authentic shots and the kids are always more comfortable and have a great time. Who wouldn't be happy on the swings?

New York Part 1

Back in May, when we had the pleasure of photographing Vanessa and Mikey's New Hampshire wedding, we decided that since we were so close to New York City (Lora's favorite place in the world) we would spend a week in the city. Well as you can imagine, it's hard to sum up New York with just a handful of pictures so this will be our first of three blog posts of our trip. For the first post we thought we would share some of our more touristy photos.

This first photo is of Lora standing at the door step of Carrie from Sex and the City's apartment. In case you were wondering, no, a "No Trespassing" sign has never stopped Lora.


This is us on the ferry to the Statue of liberty with the city skyline behind us.




This is us at Top of the Rock, the observation deck of Rockefeller Center. This was probably our favorite thing that we did.




One of games Lora likes to play is "find the Empire State Building and take our picture with it in the background".


This is us on top of the Empire State Building at night (good view but not as good at Top of the Rock). The light in this picture is great because we're bouncing the flash off the windows camera left. Needless to say, many unfortunate tourists lost their eye site that day.




This little map is the best New York map ever printed in the history of topography!


Lora is sad at the MoMA because Starry Night by Van Gogh is on tour.


One night we saw Guys and Dolls because Lora wanted to meet Lorelai Gilmore. She didn't have time for much more than autographs but we stole a quick photo.


This is us outside the Seinfeld cafe. Last time we were in New York we only drove by so we were glad we had a chance to get a proper photo this time (and of course a meal).


This is Lora in front of the blue whale at the Natural History Museum. Another great example of the effectiveness of bounce flash.


This is us on the bow bridge in Central Park.


After searching and searching for the Soup Nazi's soup kitchen, we found it! Unfortunately it went out of business. Another casualty of the recession I suppose.

Colby's 1 Month portrait Session

I'd like you to meet my favorite little man and cuddle buddy Colby. He belongs to great friends of ours, Stewart and Melissa. We had the opportunity to do a photo shoot of Colby's one month birthday. Here are some of my favorites from the session...enjoy the new and improved larger photo size.

Look at those blue eyes, he will be such the heartbreaker when he gets older. ;)

Vanessa & Mikey's Wedding

Back in May, Lewis and I had the opportunity to head to Boston to shoot our good friends' Vanessa and Mikey's wedding. Their wedding was at Searles Castle in New Hampshire with a pink ballet theme and it was absolutely beautiful. We got a lot of really amazing shots and had a blast while we were there. Vanessa really poured her heart into every detail of the day, right down to the pink rock candy favors.

All the bridesmaids wore ballet inspired dresses and ballet flats that tied around the ankle.

Like I said, Vanessa added touches to every detail, even the crystals on her shoes.



I love the chaos in the shot as everyone is trying to help her into the dress.

My favorite part of the day is watching the groom's face as he sees his bride for the first time, walking down the aisle.

Vanessa choreographed their first dance and they danced it perfectly!
